Located at The Terraces at University Place, the restaurant and bar draws a crowd of regulars from surrounding apartments and the UNC Charlotte campus. The Flying Saucer is home to the most beers in Charlotte, featuring 120 taps and 70+ bottles from around the world. The extensive menu includes the famous bratwurst platter, delicious wraps, salads, and burgers with all the trimmings.
Its name comes from a tradition started by owner Shannon Lynn. When a patron drinks 200 different beers, the bar throws a party in his or her honor and a plate with the patron’s name is affixed to the wall or ceiling of the bar.
The menu offers the type of chow that goes down well with a brewski, including cheese fries, soft pretzels, onion rings, burgers, dogs and sandwiches. The furnishings have a comfy feel, with overstuffed chairs, sofas and a big TV. Pool table and darts are available as well.
