One way to save money is to cook your own food rather than eat out. For those who live in dorm rooms this can be especially challenging.</p><p>If you are lucky you have a fridge and a microwave. You can pick up some basic cooking utensils at the local dollar store or maybe borrow some from home. The real challenge is finding recipes that can be cooked in a dorm room.</p><p>I ran across a web site that has a few recipes. More than 120 food service professionals from 30 colleges and universities will attend the conference.</p><p>Six chefs from southern universities will compete for medals and the right to represent the Southern Region of the National Association of College and University Food Services at the national competition. Contestants will prepare four portions of an original hot entrée featuring Whole, Dressed Local (sustainable) Organic Rainbow Trout.</p><p>The challenge runs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Halton Arena on the UNCC campus. You can buy a resealable container of chicken broth and use it for several meals.
